It’s June 9th today and I’ve been programming since April.
Two months feel like they’ve flown by, and I fear I have nothing to show for it.
Yesterday it dawned on me that I may be stuck in “tutorial hell”, or something of the sort.
I start from the beginning of a “beginner’s” book or video series or book (there are so many books: online, offline, you name it), go a little way into it, then get introduced to a new book, article, video series, or even website to explore.
It may be a good thing, to have so many free resources to help me on my journey, but at some point I need to put on blinders and dedicate myself to finishing something to completion.
It is for this reason that rather than trying to now learn HTML to fix my site (as is my first instinct), I’ll devote the rest of the month to the Georgia Tech (GTx) Computing in Python I: Fundamentals and Procedural Programming course. It’s available to me free of charge through the Verizon Skill Forward partnership with edX. Open to anyone in the United States over age 17, this program is something I’d recommend, as it leads to many free online courses, and not just programming either.
After I finish with that, I’ll pivot to learning HTML, since having a good blog is now important to me.
